Given the importance of arbitration in international business, it has become a key field to play for any corporate lawyer. This one-week program aims thus to give law students the right tools to comprehend this branch. In order to do so the city of Geneva couldn’t be a better place.
It is indeed a world-renowned center for arbitration. It offers a historically neutral platform for the resolution of disputes, highly skilled professionals, experienced institutions as well as a fully international setting. It is the seat of top law firms focusing on arbitration, myriad arbitration-focused associations as well as arbitration mechanisms within international organizations.
Along with diverse and comprehensive academic program on Arbitration, we also plan thrilling social events, including a gala dinner on a boat, a laser-game and standing diner with our dear sponsors, in order to network.
The G17 Summer Law School on arbitration will take place in Geneva, Switzerland. Geneva is often referred to as the “Peace Capital” due to the presence of the many international organizations in the city and due to Switzerland’s neutral political stance. The Geneva cosmopolitan area has a population of 1.2 million. The official language in both the city and the canton is French.
Geneva is easily reachable by plane and train. Easyjet regularly flies to Geneva airport (GVA) from many metropolitan capitals. There are many train connections.
Most of the workshops will take place in the facilities of the Graduate Institute of Geneva, located in the Parc Barton right on the shore of the Lake Geneva. It’s a beautiful and relaxing setting in late summer.
Some lectures will also take place in Law firm offices, at the University of Geneva and at the Geneva chamber of commerce, all located in the city center as well.
The participants will be hosted in Geneva hostel, right in the city center. It’s in walking distance from the facilities of the Graduate Institute of Geneva and a 15 minutes tram ride from the other venues.
